As interns in Mechanical Engineering and Project Management, the incumbents will play a supportive role in assisting the engineering and project teams with planning, execution, and monitoring of projects. They will gain practical exposure to engineering processes, project administration, and management systems, while contributing to the delivery of operational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Mechanical Engineering Interns (x3):
- Fitting & Turning:
- Assist with fitting, turning, and assembly work under supervision
- Operate basic workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Support in carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations
- Learn and apply precision measurement and quality control techniques
- Draughting:
- Assist in drafting technical drawings, specifications, and engineering diagrams
- Use CAD software to produce and revise mechanical drawings
- Support design reviews and preparation of fabrication/assembly layouts
- Contribute to the preparation of bills of materials and documentation
- General Mechanical Support:
- Participate in manufacturing and production processes
- Support engineers with testing, inspections, and reporting
- Contribute to health, safety, and environmental compliance on engineering tasks
- Conduct research and contribute to process improvement initiatives
Project Management Intern (x1):
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking
- Prepare project documentation, minutes of meetings, and status reports
- Support project managers in monitoring timelines, budgets, and resources
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met
- Conduct research and compile data for project proposals and risk assessments
- Provide administrative support on project deliverables and documentation
- Assist with stakeholder engagement and communication activities
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering Internship (x3):
- Matric (Grade 12 / Standard 10) or Equivalent (Required)
- N2 Mechanical Engineering with Fitting and Turning Trade Theory and Engineering Drawing (Required)
- N6 in Mechanical Engineering/Draughting will be an added advantage
- Qualification must be obtained from a Public TVET/Technical College
Project Management Internship (x1):
- Matric (Grade 12 / Standard 10) or Equivalent (Required)
- ND/BTech/BSc in Project Management OR ND/BTech/BSc/BEng plus a Programme/Certificate in Project Management (Required)
- Qualification must be obtained from a Public Institution
General Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Knowledge of CAD software (for Mechanical Engineering/Draughting interns) an added advantage
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- High levels of integrity, dependability, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage
