What This Job Involves:
- Technical Lead intern for furniture
- Assist with furniture drawings and layouts
- Assist with furniture production drawings
- Visit client sites to measure with business managers
- Assist with workplace standards library
- Assist business managers on bespoke items and drawings
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Mechanical & Industrial Engineering would be a must
- 3D modeling and CAD software (see software proficiency)
- Materials science (see material selection & sourcing)
- Manufacturing processes
- Ergonomics
- Sketching and rendering
- Skills: Creative and artistic ability
- Strong visual communication skills
- Familiarity with manufacturing techniques
- Problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Practical Experience: hands-on experience is crucial
- Internships at furniture manufacturers understanding the key elements in furniture production methodology (see key elements below)
- Apprenticeships with established designers
- Software Proficiency: 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360)
- 2D design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD)
