The University of the Free State (UFS) invites unemployed graduates to apply for Finance Internships / Graduate Internship Programme for 2026-2028.

Location: Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa

Job Type: Graduate Internship

Duration: 18 months

Number of Positions: 4

Closing Date: 25 March 2026

Duties and Responsibilities:

Gain exposure and perform the following tasks:

  • Process transactions on PeopleSoft.
  • Capture data.
  • Journalise rectifications/changes to accounts/entities.
  • Manage accounts and general enquiries.

Inherent Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or a B-Tech Degree on NQF Level 7 in the field of Accounting.

The following criteria apply to the selection of candidates:

  • Should not currently be participating in an existing learnership/internship programme.
  • Must not have any formal work experience.
  • Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be willing to sign an internship agreement with UFS.
  • If studying, no classes to be attended during office hours.

Recommendations:

  • Sound knowledge of general accounting.
  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Communication and people skills, with the ability to work well with students and colleagues.

  • The ability to maintain composure and self-control.
  • The ability to be reliable, responsible, dependable and to fulfil obligations.

Strategic Thinking:

  • The ability to deal with several activities at a time.
  • The ability to plan work and to follow plans.

Business Acumen:

  • The ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations.
  • Proficient in using MS Office.

Leading:

  • The ability to lead, take charge of situations, and offer opinions and directions to others.
  • The ability to be cooperative with others, display a good-natured attitude and encourage people to work together.

Building Coalitions:

  • The ability to be sensitive and understanding to the needs and feelings of others.
  • The ability to interact with others and establish personal connections with people.
