About The Role

What you need to know:

  • Collaborate and work with the casualty claims team as required in risk identification and strategies to achieve departmental goals, particularly global quality assurance.
  • Proactively investigate, evaluate, negotiate settlement, and resolve all allocated Casualty Claims. Ensure claims are handled within the allocated authority limits.
  • Interpret policy wordings and adjust claims in line with the appropriate wording.
  • Develop, maintain, and build relationships with brokers and other stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Manage service providers, Attorneys, and Loss Adjustors to achieve cost-effective and excellent service to our clients.
  • Focus on speedy claims finalization without the appointment of panel attorneys where possible.
  • Collaborate and work with Underwriters and other business units as required in risk identification and strategies to achieve departmental goals (financial, client retention, client satisfaction)
  • Responsible for resolving claims; coverage determinations, investigation, verification, and analyzing data to determine entitlement of claims; ensuring claims validity; accurate payments and reserves set up; maintenance of claims files and records; communications with and reporting to brokers as required; and settlement of claims fairly and promptly.
  • Provide excellent customer service; ensure delivery of existing service level agreements.
  • Deliver best-in-class assistance to brokers and clients throughout the claims process while directing cases to satisfactory resolutions. Ensure that the required documentation to Assess the claim is received.
  • Posting accurate timely reserves for each claim handled, ensuring updated timely based on the development of the claim; and reviewing the entire assigned portfolio regularly to ensure overall reserve adequacy.
  • Vigorously pursue necessary claim documents. Maintain close coordination with the service providers and brokers.
  • Report on trends observed and policy wording and schedule issues.
  • Identify claims with potential recovery/salvage. Resolve complex casualty claims ensuring cost-effective and client-driven solutions.
  • Manage a complex diverse workload across all financial lines of business including but not limited to large quantum, local and international claims, and litigated and non-litigated claims. Actively evaluate and determine coverage.
  • Determine, raise, and monitor reserves in line with the AIG reserving philosophy. Support team as and when required. Ensure compliance with the AIG Claims Management and Data Quality Requirements Manage service levels with the appointment of service providers (Attorneys and Loss Adjustors) Accurate and timeously payments of claim settlements and service provider invoices.

What We’re Looking For

Qualification:

  • Graduate-level;-
    • Degree in Law,
    • BCom Law or
    • LLB Degree
  • Insurance qualification beneficial but not a requirement

Core Competencies Requirements:

  • Strong administration, customer service, and technical skills
  • Computer Literate (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Claims adjudication including receipt, review, and processing of commercial claims.
  • Understand legal processes and procedures, litigation management, and litigation avoidance techniques.
  • Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment.
  • Work independently but take instruction when required.
  • Effective Time Management and diary skills.
