The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) invites unemployed graduates to apply for Assistant Forensic Analyst Permanent Position.

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Title: Assistant Forensic Analyst – Investigations Department

Job Type: Graduate Job (Permanent)

Purpose of the Job:

To conduct or assist with forensic regulatory investigations or preliminary investigations, within the financial services industry (financial markets, insurance, collective investment schemes, hedge funds, pension funds and financial and advisory services) and to take responsibility for the regulatory and enforcement action, following from such investigations or preliminary investigations. Persons appointed to these positions will report to the Senior Manager.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Gathering and analysing (under supervision) all relevant and admissible evidence and conducting a proper analysis of relevant information, needed to   assist investigators;
  • Proper and detailed analysis of bank statements;
  • Create, or assist with drafting of an investigation plan and be able to execute the investigation plan, with the aim of a focused and efficient   investigation;
  • Obtain accurate and relevant affidavits from investigated parties and witnesses;
  • Assist in obtaining search warrants and conducting diligent search and seizure operations;
  • Assist with preparing and presenting investigation reports and investigation findings;
  • Take responsibility of, or assist with the execution of all enforcement actions by the FSCA;
  • Assist with requests from the public and Foreign Regulators.

Requirements:

  • A Forensic Accounting or an LLB degree, with at least one (1) or two (2) years’ experience in investigation, litigation, prosecution, evidence gathering, drafting of pleadings, presentation of cases or experience in a forensic investigations team.

Other Key Competencies:

Candidates must demonstrate good communication and interviewing skills, good interpersonal skills, a confident and decisive approach particularly in difficult situations. Candidates must be able to conduct preliminary investigations which lead to successful and fair enforcement action. Candidates must understand and apply basic rules of evidence whilst consistently complying with the proper evidence handling procedures and be able to draft investigation reports, with findings properly supported by cross-referenced evidence.
