An internship programme is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after the acquisition of academic qualification to obtain experiential training. The City of Johannesburg is committed to providing work-based training for students.
- This internship opportunity is applicable to youth in the Johannesburg communities, who qualifies for this internship and have never participated in an internship programme before.
- This Vacancy is open to all qualifying STUDENTS in the Johannesburg Community for a period not exceeding 18 months.

Administrative Assistant Internship

Primary Function:
Provide effective comprehensive administrative support and logistical services to Group Strategic Management Support Branch in order to ensure the efficiency of the business unit.
Key Learning Areas:
- Coordinate administrative requirements associated with Management Support functionality;
- Performs general clerical duties and renders support to the unit;
- Promote the efficiency of the Strategic Management and Support Services;
- Collate and prepares qualitative and quantitate information for inclusion into specific statutory reports;
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric plus a Degree/National Diploma in Public Administration / Business Administration / Management or related qualification (NQF level 7 or 6).
- Knowledge of Computer Applications (MS Office Applications).
- Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
Leading Competencies:
- Computer literacy (MS Office Packages, including Word, Excel);
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and must be able to communicate and coordinate effectively with other stakeholders;

Assets Internship
Closing Date: 10 April 2025
Primary Function:
Effectively manage, monitor and account for movable & immovable assets under the control of the Transport Department as prescribed by the City of Johannesburg Asset Management policy, in line with the relevant legislative prescripts.
Key Learning Areas:
- Capitalisation of movable Assets in all seven (7) regions within the City of Johannesburg;
- Monitor Assets under Construction (AUC) / Work in progress (WIP in all seven regions within the City of Johannesburg.
- Physical verification of movable and immovables Assets in the fixed Assets register (capitalised Projects) in all seven (7) Regions within the city of Johannesburg for completeness and reporting and audit purposes;
- Assets accounting & monitoring;
- Provide administrative support in relation to the unit and maintain record keeping ir compliance with record keeping requirements;
- General office administration work, which may include basic word data entry, filing and Organising and related work;
- Payments of Accounts payable;
- Raise accruals on SAP system;
- Acquisition of movable assets;
- Processing insurance claims for reported damage or destroyed assets due to unforeseen events such as fire, theft or natural disaster;
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric plus Diploma in Accounting Sciences or Management Accounting or related tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting or Financial Management Accounting (NQF level 6);
- Enrollment confirmation letter from the institution;
- Knowledge of Computer Applications (MS Office Applications);
- Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
Leading Competencies:
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel);
- Good communication skills.
Remuneration:
Qualification completed with min 360 credits: R10 109.56 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)
Enrolled as a student: R3 500.00 pm (Basic salary, no benefits)
