Brief Description of the Job Purpose:
To protect employees’ Health & Safety by making sure risks in the workplace are properly controlled and to ensure employers comply with all aspects of Health & Safety.
Key Responsibilities of this Role:
Quality Control Service
- Receive and inspect all materials for packaging.
- Calibrate measuring equipment.
- Meet targets and thereby contribute to internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Ensure QC compliance objectives and targets are achieved.
- Liaise with customers’ auditors and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
Compliance to Safety Requirements
- Communicate changes in Safety and Environment legislation to Management.
- Evaluate incident forms, surveys, audits to establish root causes and together with Supervisors and Managers concerned, formulate a plan of action to correct non-complaint behaviour or conditions.
- Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to management.
- Co-ordinate at least two evacuation exercises per year to ensure that all staff become familiar with these procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
- 2 – 5 years related industry experience.
Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of relevant local safety, security and environmental legislation (OHS Act, COID Act, Environmental Conservation Act).
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
- Working knowledge of safety systems.

Skills:
- Implementation and administration of safety systems.
- SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC, Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments, Legal Compliance Assessments, Construction Regulations and other NOSA or similar training would be beneficial.
